Tandiwe is a South African national who was born and raised in exile (Zambia and Tanzania). She is the youngest of five children, born after her parents left South Africa in protest of the apartheid system.
She has over 18 years of banking experience first as a research analyst with Deutsche Bank South Africa and then as a transactor with Standard Bank of South Africa. At Standard Bank Tandiwe is responsible for driving the Bank’s strategy for medium sized business in South Africa – looking particularly at enhancing the Bank’s internal capability and resources to lead in the market. Prior to this, she spent 14 years working in Investment Banking with a focus on the African continent, to execute Standard Bank’s growth strategy for Africa. Tandiwe started her career at Abt Associates (consulting firm) working in both Boston and Johannesburg primarily in public health research and analysis.
Tandiwe holds a Masters Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and a Bachelor of Arts from Smith College in Northampton Massachusetts. She is also a graduate of the United World College USA.
Tandiwe serves as a Trustee on the Board of the Student Sponsorship Program. She lives in Johannesburg South Africa with her 12 year old son.
